There is now permissive open access to the site of the Roman Fort on this walk. I walked this part of the route earlier this week and think that the best way of reaching this is via a new permissive path. Directions of how to access this are as follows:
Follow the existing route in the printed guide until shortly after passing 'Cwm' (the attractive house on the left on the lane out to the red brick house near the fort). Keep an eye out for a fairly small information board on a post to the right of the lane. Turn right at this and negiotate a gate with no hinges (the only awkward bit). Head up the right hand side of the field to a further waymnarked gate into the fort area. When ready to leave the fort, retrace the outward route to the lane and turn right. When the lane bends sharply to the right, cross the stile and take the left hand footpath. You have now returned to the course of the printed route and should head half left across the field to cross a small stream, etc.
